The King Size template is a unique template designed with Businesses, Photographers, Designers and etc., in mind, for the purpose of creating a dynamic looking Portfolio that caters to a variety of users and uses.
With a fullscreen background and many custom options, King Size offers you many possibilities. Including 5 very different galleries to be used for portfolios and galleries, such as "prettyPhoto", "FancyBox", "Colorbox", "slideViewer" and "Galleria".
Of course, this is only a few of the available options and as we go through this documentation, we'll introduce more of the options available to you with your KingSize WordPress template.
It takes less than 5 minutes to install setup and get your website running. Just follow these steps mentioned below and you should have absolutely no issues. Although should you run into any problems, we'll do our best to assist you - contact us using the Support Forums.
Once downloaded from Theme Forest, inside the zipped folder you received, you will find the following:
WordPress Directory: > wp-contents > themes > [upload the KingSize zipped folder here]
Good news
Note: It is not required to be uploaded as a zip, but does speed up the process while uploading since it is alerady compressed and in a smaller format. Unpacking the template zip on your server automatically creates the folder "kingsize" with all the corresponding files necessary for your KingSize WordPress use.
IMPORTANT: Folder permissions are only require being modified when using Timthumb to resize your images!
IMPORTANT: Do not overlook this step! It is important you setup the Folder Permissions / CHMOD*!
Good news
Note: In the release of Version 4.1, we've included a new Image Resizer alternative to the previously used Timthumb. Timthumb is still included as an optional selection but the default for our template will now be "Aqua-Resizer" by Aquagraphite. At any time you can use "Theme Options > General Settings" to switch the Image Resizer that is being used by the KingSize WordPress theme.
The available options are "Aqua-Resizer", "WP Image Resizer" and "Timthumb". Select which works best for you and your preference. Default selection (version 4.1+) is now Aqua-Resizer.
*It is our recommendation that you use folder permissions "755" instead of "777". Some servers may not already have it enabled but you should ask your hosting provider to enable "suPHP" on your server. This will offer further protection to your installation and remove the need to change folder permissions to "777" which can at times be a security risk.
Once you have unpacked the "kingsize.zip" into the ".../wp-content/themes/" folder, you want to assign some Permission / CHMOD settings. The purpose of doing this is to enable scripts such as "Timthumb" and those related, the ability to "Read, Write and Execute" various functions. In this case, these folders are used when uploading your images used by Galleries, Portfolios and the Blogs featured images. Not completing this step will result in your thumbnails and images not appearing on your website.
On some servers, the security option "suPHP" may be enabled, in which case you'll want to use the Permission / CHMOD "755" instead. It's also important that you confirm your server supports both "GD Image" and "Timthumb".
Once uploaded to wp-contents > themes > [kingsize folder here] you will need to log into your WordPress dashboard, locate the "Appearance" from the left-hand sidebar and click the "Themes" option. Here you'll be able to activate the newly uploaded template.
Good news
Note: If you do not see the template within the "Themes" available, re-check that you've uploaded this to the correct directory as explained above. Additionally, it's important that you have not uploaded the entire zipped folder you downloaded from Theme Forest. If you have done so, you will receive an error message, "Missing Template Style Sheet and/or Broken Template" - this just means you have incorrectly uploaded the template. Please then re-read the directions above.
The express install can be found inside the "Documentation" folder you've downloaded from Theme Forest. This express setup is in the format of an ".xml" file, locate the file:
Import File: Express Install.xml [located in the "Documentation" folder]
With this file, you can create an express setup which will give you an end result that looks exactly like the demo you've seen prior to purchasing the template. This xml file will allow you to re-create exactly what it is we've already created on the demo and gives you a head start on getting your website setup and ready to use so you can edit and manage it.
Note: Images in the demonstration will not be included in your download.
If you've never imported an .xml install, you can follow these quick simple steps:
Good news
Note: Once you've installed your XML Express Setup there are two addition steps required: [A] you will need to apply the default Theme Options so go to "Appearance > Theme Options" and "Save all Changes" at the top of the Theme Options. [B] you want to go to Appearance > Menus and assign the new Main Menu to the Header Menu option for these items to display in the navigation. Also note that in order to include the "Menu Subtitles" / "Descriptions" beneath each menu item, you have to click the Screen Options tab at the top and checkmark the option for Descriptions.
At this point, your website should now take the form you've seen available in our demonstration website - if not, please re-read this instructions. As always, for additional assistance we encourage you to checkout our Support Forums for any further assistance needed.
We cannot stress how important it is for you to make BACKUPS PRIOR TO UPDATING your website! Please backup!
For those of you updating, we've created a Blog Tutorial called "How do I Update" that's important you read this when updating!
Good news
IMPORTANT: When updating from previous versions of "v4" to version "v4.1" you will need to perform one very important step when updating. If you've created any pages/posts that are using the current background slider / video, you will need to go back to those pages/posts after updating and "RE-ASSIGN THE SETTING" for either "Background Slider" or "Background Video" as we've added new write-panel options that will affect the previous settings.
Located inside the "Appearance" dashboard section, you will find our Theme Options labeled as - "Theme Options"
When first installing our template it will come pre-installed with our KingSize WordPress logo. You can head to "Appearance > KingSize Options > General Settings" to customize and upload your own logo (recommended size is 180px[h] by 200px[w] for best results).
Here you will want to upload an image that will be assigned to all pages, sections and posts as your default Global Background. This background image can be changed per page and post by using the Write-Panel option present when editing / creating a new page or post. If you are not using the Homepage Slider or Video Backgrounds, this image will then become your homepage background.
Following this option you've the ability to enable or disable the Background Grid Overlay. This will help darken the background images on all pages / posts other then your homepage to keep the readers focus on the content rather then the background image.
Also located in the "Appearance > Theme Options > General Settings" tab you will find your Navigation settings:
Show / Hide Navigation by Default: By default the navigation shows expanded, but here you can set it to collapsed.
Enable Menu Hide / Show: This will enable the "arrow" inside the navigation that allows you to hide/show it.
Enable the Menu Tooltip: This will enable the tooltip* that appears displaying the "hide" and "show" messages.
Good news
*Note: Using the Language files (.PO / .MO) with Poedit, you can edit the text that appears when mousing over the navigation / menu. You can learn more about this in section #12 "Language and Localization".
In "Appearance > Theme Options > Home Settings" you will find the corresponding Homepage Slider & Video Background options:
Here you'll assign whether or not to use the Image Slider or Video as your homepage background.
If you're wanting to assign a specific page as your homepage, go to "Settings > Reading" and here you can select a page you wish to assign as your Homepage.
This option is used to assign a specific Slider Category you've created to your homepage. This allows you to use multiple sliders for various pages and posts without having the same images as your homepage displayed on other pages/posts.
You can set a specific number of slides to display - leaving this empty will display all slides.
This is required to be defined in Milliseconds and is controlling the time between each of the slide intervals.
This is required to be defined in Milliseconds and controls the transition between slide items themselves.
Define the order in which you want the slider items displayed.
You can enable here the use of Titles and Descriptions within your slider items shown on the homepage.
Choose to enable or disable these controls from displaying on the homepage.
Assign the placement of your slide controls either "Above" or "Below" the Title and Descriptions of your slides. This is handy when using slider items with longer descriptions then 2 lines.
Insert the URL of the video you're wanting displayed on the homepage. This only works if you've assigned the Video Background as your homepage option at the top of this "Home Settings" section. Note that when using Vimeo videos, make sure to remove the "https://". This will cause problems when displaying Vimeo videos.
Enabled to Auto Play by default.
Enable or disable the Control Bar from appearing on your videos when used on the homepage.
Enable or disable continuous play of the video.
For the most part, alike to the other sections, each Theme Options will have a description beside it to help you understand it's purpose.
You'll have the option set the colors for text, headings, menu items, mouse over effects, active menu items, tooltip messages, background overlays and etc. If you're wanting to add custom styles, we would encourage you NOT to use style.css but rather update them via "Theme Options > Miscellaneous > CSS Overrides".
These options are related directly to Pages and Posts within KingSize WordPress. You've options such as "Enabling Blog Excerpts" or "Enabling Full Contents", as well things like "Enabling / Disabling the Sidebars", "Enabling the Widget Ready Footer", customizing the "Read more..." text shown after post excerpts, and even the option to enable comments beneath your Portfolio / Galleries.
Please note: When enabling comments for your Portfolio, this still requires you enabling the comments from within that page. If comments for your pages / posts are not already enabled, you need to locate the Screen Options at the top of the page, click this and it will expand. Once clicked, locate the option for "Discussions" and checkmark the box beside it. This step does require two steps to complete.
Here you can define how many items to display and the "height" of the portfolio items should you wish to limit the amount of text, or not use descriptions. By default, descriptions are enabled and the defined height is 400px - change accordingly to suit your specific needs. You can manage and control various options for both Galleries and Portfolios within this Theme Option tab.
Here you will insert the email address used by your "Contact Page" template. However there are two ways to creating a Contact form...
The first is using the "Contact Page" template. When creating a page, you can select from within the "Page Attributes" section, a Page Template - for the purpose of this page we'd be selecting the "Contact Page". When using the Contact template, this email is required.
There is also the Shortcode: [contact email="youremail@domain.com" message="Enter your custom success message here!"]
This shortcode does not require being used specifically on pages. You can insert it anywhere you want, pages or posts.
If you're using the Page Template for your contact page and would like to define a custom message, you can do so within these settings.
Currently with KingSize WordPress, it comes pre-installed with 25 different Social Network options. While we've tried to accommodate them all, there are lots we have not included that are not as commonly used. If you have additional Social Networks you'd like to add, follow these steps:
Good news
Important Note: This is NOT for those inexperienced but provided for the use of those willing to attempt the modifications. If you mess up your template due to these changes, we will not fix it. We suggest you backup the files you edit prior to editing them. Due to the frequent request of "How to Add new Social Networks" we have included this as an optional edit if you wish to attempt it.
Each Social Network will be coded like this:
<?php if( $data['wm_social_twitter'] ) { ?> <li><a href="<?php echo $data['wm_social_twitter'];?>"> <img src="<?php echo get_template_directory_uri(); ?>/images/social/twitter_16.png" alt="twitter"
title="Twitter" class="tooltip_link"> </a></li> <?php } ?>
Change 'wm_social_twitter' to reflect the new social network name, ie., 'wm_social_NAMEHERE'.
Change the image URL to call the new image, ie., "/social/twitter_16.png".
Update the alt="Social-Network" and title="Social-Network" to reflect the new Social Network.
In short, simply edit the bold yellow highlighted areas with the new social network details you want.
Using Twitter again as example, copy and paste that into a new line, similar to this:
$of_options[] = array( "name" => "Twitter URL", "id" => $shortname."_social_twitter", "icon" => "twitter_16.png", "desc" => "<img src='".get_template_directory_uri()."/images/social/twitter_16.png' alt='twitter'/>", "std" => "", "parent_heading" => $shortname."_misc_social", "type" => "text");
Again we're going to edit those highlighted areas to correspond with the new Social Network you've added in the previous step.
Here you'll be able to insert your custom header scripts and codes, 404 modifications, Google Analytics and Enable/Disable the No-Right Click options. Additionally, you can insert your new/custom CSS modifications so that when updating in future versions, your changes will be carried into the updated versions without the fear of overwriting the style.css file.
This section will allow you to perform backups on your Theme Options. Resourceful for if you want to change a bunch of options but uncertain if you'll like them afterward. So make a backup here first and you can easily restore those options previously used.
As briefly explained above, a lot of the corresponding Homepage Slider and Video options are located inside "Appearance > KingSize Options > Home Settings". Aside from the actual settings / preferences, we now need to create the individual slides to be used.
To create Backgrounds Sliders, you need to locate in the WordPress Dashboard sidebar the custom post-type called "Slider". First you're going to want to create some Slider Categories. So if we were going to be creating a slider for the Homepage, we would create a Slider Category called "Home".
Of course, at anytime you can create new Slider Categories when creating those individual slides.
So now, head over to the "Slider > Add New" and create a new single slider item.
We want to give it a unique name so we can easily identify the image being used in the Slider.
To include a description for that slider item, add your description into the content / text editor.
Select in the right hand side the Slider Category you want to assign this slider item to.
To upload the image for this slider item you want to use the "Featured Image" option and upload or select from the existing images the image you want used for that single slider background.
Just beneath the content / text editor, you'll see there are some write-panel options that will allow you to customize your slider item a little more. You can add in a Custom URL for the Read More button, change the default Button Text, set the link to open in a new tab and disable/enable text.
Each Slider post you create is a single slider item. So if you want to display several images on a specific page background then you would have to create seven individual slider posts and in each post created attach your featured image and customize that slider item to suit your specific needs.
Sliders are assigned unique ID's and each category has one. So to find your Slider Category ID at anytime needed, simply go back to "Slider > Slider Categories" and locate the ID column in there.
By default, our template will use the Fullscreen Background slider as its homepage. You can customize the homepage settings by going to "Theme Options > Home Settings". You can either assign the homepage a "Video" background or an "Image Slider" background.
Before KingSize WordPress version 4.1, this was the only way to manage a fullscreen background on the homepage with full options but now, any page or post can be turned into a fullscreen background slider with all the options the homepage offers. All you need to do is go into any page / post and using the write-panel options you can assign that as a fullscreen background slider or even a fullscreen video background.
It is not necessary for you to assign a static page as your homepage for the fullscreen slider to work, however in our latest release, since you can create a fullscreen slider or video background on any page or post, you can now assign any page as your homepage with all the same options as available in the Theme Options default homepage.
To create a page / post slider, we first must create our slider items as explained previously. We want to make sure to assign these slider items to a unique "Slider Category" that we can call out in our pages / posts for use. So for this example, we'll create our new slider items and assign them to a category referred to as "Page Slider".
Now we want to go to the page or post of our choice and locate the write-panel options.
Inside each of the pages and posts, there is a write-panel section specific to "KingSize Page / Post Background Settings". Here you'll discover all the relevant options for controlling your page / post specific backgrounds.
Each of these options available include descriptions but for reference we'll again review them:
Custom Background: Here you can upload a unique background image for this page / post.
Slider / Video Background: The "Default" option will be selected but if you want to enable the "Image Slider" or "Video Backgrounds" you'll need to use the drop-down selector and choose which of these options you want used as your background. The "Default" option corresponds with the "Custom Background" which is a single image background being used and not a slider or video background.
Hide the Body Content: This allows you to "Hide the Body on Load" which means the body will be hidden when the page/post is loaded. When the navigation is expanded the body will show again. Additionally you can choose to "Permanently Hide the Body" which would be used for creating a fullscreen background slider or video page / post.
Depending on whether you've selected "Video Background" or "Slider Image Background" you will have to then use the relevant write-panel section. So if we chose to use the Image Slider, we'd locate in the write-panel "KingSize Image Slider Options" and add in our details.
Slider Category ID: This is the ID for the unique Slider Category you want used.
Transition Effect: This is by default set to "Fade" but you can change it as desired.
Number of Slides: Will allow you to set how many slides are show by default.
Slider Order: This is a drop-down selector that allows you to choose an ordering.
Intervals: This is required to be defined and in milliseconds.
Transitions Time: This is required to be defined and in milliseconds.
Title and Descriptions: Will allow you to enable or disable slider titles from showing in the background.
Description Width: Will allow you to set a new width for the description box that overlays the slider.
Slide Controllers: Will allow you to enable/disable the Slider Controllers if desired.
Controller Positions: Will allow you to place the slider play/pause/next/prev buttons either "Above" or "Below" the slider descriptions.
In the case you've selected "Video Background" as the type of background being used, you'd then locate the section in the write-panel labeled "KingSize Video Background Options" and set them accordingly to the page / post you're creating.
Video Background URL: Insert the URL of the MP4/Vimeo/YouTube video you're wanting to use. Note that if you're using Vimeo do NOT paste the URL with a secure URL (example: https://...) as it will cause the video to not load.
Autoplay Video: Allows you to disable / enable the autoplay feature.
Controlbar Video: Gives you the ability to disable / enable the video controlbar.
Repeat Video: Gives you the ability to disable / enable the video repeat / cycle.
They're pretty self-explanatory options. Of course, if you require further assistance with the use and creation of your backgrounds, we encourage you to contact us through our Support Forums.
Since the release of WordPress 3.0, creating menus has never been so easy. You can drag, drop and organize your menus with complete ease. Even link outside your website to other site URLs.
If you've never before used the WordPress Custom Menus, we've created a tutorial to assist you with the setup of your KingSize menu.
By default, this template supports one menu. To get started, log into your Dashboard, locate "Appearance" in the sidebar and here you will find "Menus". Here is where you will create the menu used by the KingSize template.
Create a new menu called "Main Menu" (just for example but you can use anything you want), then click save. Once saved, you'll want to assign that menu to the header by using the options left of this area, titled "Theme Options". If you've used the express install method, you can see this menu has already been created and setup for you (although you still are required to assign it as your header menu).
To include a description, at the top click "Screen Options", under this check the "Description" option.
This template comes with 2 widget ready sidebars and 1 widget ready footer. To include widgets, locate the area titled "Appearance" in your sidebar and select the "Widgets" from that menu selection and this will bring you to a new page to customize your sidebars used.
With the release of version 4.1 of the KingSize WordPress template, we've now introduced the ability to also include Sidebars on your pages and not just posts as it was once before. In addition to this modification and by popular demand, we've also included the ability to create "Unlimited Sidebars".
Inside "Widgets" you will see a sidebar area titled "Main Blog Sidebar" and it is this sidebar that will appear throughout your website where specified. You just need to use the desired widgets of your choice, drag and drop into this area, then click save and you're done.
Additionally, inside your "Appearance > KingSize Options > Post and Page" settings, you can disable the Blog Sidebars globally. However there is also the option to disable sidebars on individual posts as desired by using the write-panel options provided.
This widget area is designed for your Contact Page. When you assigned the Page Template "Contact", its here this sidebar will be active. You can either use the custom widget we've included to insert your "additional contact details", or add other widgets of your choice.
Here you'll find 3 widget ready areas designed for your footer. Each specific to the footer, one is designed for the left, another for the center and lastly the right footer column. As a default, our template comes with 3 demo footer columns included. When you add your own widgets, this will automatically become disabled and will show your widgets instead. Should you desire to disable the Footer area, you can go to "Appearance > KingSize Options > Post and Page" settings and uncheck the option that enables them.
To enable the KingSize Twitter widget in your sidebar, you need to go to "Appearance" > "Widgets" and locate the appropriate titled widget there. Now left click to drag and drop into the appropriate sidebar desired. Once selected, the widget will expand automatically asking you for some details to finalize the setup. You'll be required to provide:
In recent updates from Twitter, there are now new required steps to enable the Twitter widget.
Save your changes afterward and your Twitter widget should work as intended.
In earlier versions, KingSize WordPress only supported sidebars on "Posts". You had the option to enable or disable them but it was very limited. At that time, page sidebars were non-existent. Now you can create Unlimited Sidebars and assign them to specific pages, posts and for specific purposes.
It's quite simple.
There you have it, sidebar has been created.
Now go to "Appearance > Widgets" and you can add the widgets of your choice to your sidebars.
To assign this sidebar to a page or post, simply go in and edit the page / post and when inside the edit area you'll see in the right-hand side of the page/post-options an area called "Custom Sidebar". It describes beneath it to "Choose a sidebar to display" and those previously created will now be listed in the drop-down selection area.
Simply select the sidebar you're wanting displayed on that specific page / post and save the edits. That selection will then override the default sidebar that was originally there. Additionally, you can always "disable" or "enable" sidebars on a per-page / post basis by using the write-panel options.
In previous versions of KingSize WordPress, you could only create a blog with the use of Page Templates but in the latest version you can now use Page Templates and the new Blog Shortcode.
CREATE A BLOG WITH PAGE TEMPLATE
To create your blog section within KingSize WordPress, you just need to follow these simple steps:
First you'll need to go "Add a New Page" via the WordPress Dashboard and title it "Blog" or whatever it is you wish it to be called. From this point, look to the right side of your page and you'll see an area titled "Page Attributes" and beneath here you'll see the option to select a page "Page Template". From this list, you want to select the "Blog Template" and click Publish / Update.
At this point, if you view the new page you created, automatically all posts made will be displayed within this Blog Page. Now assigning this to your menu is rather easy. Head over to "Appearance > Menus" and assign the page you've created to your menu and place it wherever you'd like it displayed in the menu navigation bar. From that point, any published blog entries / posts will be displayed here. Keep in mind, you must have already created some posts for them to be shown.
Sometimes buyers will want to create more than one blog. Reasons behind this will vary, but in this case, you probably want to avoid using the "Blog Page" template previously explained. Instead, go to your "Post" menu item and create a few "Categories", these will act as individual blogs. Now create your posts and assign them to these various categories created, ie., Blog, Travels, Photography, etc. Now go to "Appearance > Menus" and locate in the left column the "Categories" block / module. Here you will see the previously created Categories, check the ones you want to assign and add them to your menu. Save your changes and they'll appear within the navigation.
Inside your "Add New / Edit Posts" area, you will see beneath the contents area, a place known as the "write-panel". This area includes the ability for you to upload a new background image, slider options, as well videos you want associated with that specific page/post. This will then override the default background image you previously setup in the Theme Options.
CREATING A BLOG WITH THE USE OF SHORTCODES
The benefit to using a Shortcode verses the Page Template is you're now able to display "related" blog entries on pages, or "Latest News" or "Random Posts" throughout your website as desired. You simply need to use the Blog Shortcode to call specific categories and customize it to suit your need.
In this example, we're going to create a simple Blog page with the use of the Shortcode.
So first, head over to the "Pages > Add New" and create a page with the title "Blog".
Using the visual editor you can click the KingSize Shortcode button and insert the Blog shortcode.
The shortcode will by default look like this when inserted:
[blog cats="" featured_images="true" per_page="5" orderby="date" order="desc" title="true" meta_data="true"
pagination="true" content_display="excerpt"]
The available options to your Blog shortcode are:
The convenience to using the shortcode verses the page template is you can show your blog in multiple areas, or related posts by selecting a category specific to that page you've inserted the blog shortcode into. As mentioned earlier, it makes great for showing random posts, latest posts and news you want to be displayed but limited on specific pages or even other posts. It's also easier to create multiple blogs per-category verses the old way when using Page Templates.
Included are 5 different Gallery Templates and with 3 of those galleries includes 4 style options that can be assigned to the individual gallery when used. These do require being created in "Pages" and is not available through the use of "Posts", only pages.
In VERSION 4, we have introduced a new option for Galleries. Now instead of being restricted to just pages, you can now use a Shortcode to call those Galleries created into any pages/posts you may want. We'll expand on this below in more detal.
There are 5 galleries types included. These are (preview the live demo):
To select a gallery, you need to create a "New Page" and inside this New Page, you'll see the option to assign a "Template" specific to this page. This is located to the right, is directly beneath the "Publish / Update" button in the area titled "Page Attributes".
Now using this drop-down menu, you will see a variety of options here to be used with your new Page being created.
Included with 3 of these gallery types, is 4 different layout styles to choose:
Selecting these layout styles will ONLY apply to your galleries when you've selected the Page Template it corresponds with. So even though you may have selected [i.e.,] 2 columns, if no gallery type is selected it will not work.
We've decided to make use of the native WordPress Media Gallery for displaying your photos and images. It involves less work, less steps and faster end results...
To add your images, you just need to locate the "Add Media" button at the top of your Content / Text Editor, and just beneath the "Title" area of that page. When clicked this will open a new window in lightbox and this will allow you to attach / upload new media (images) files directly from your computer.
You can also select more than just one image at a time by dragging your mouse and selecting multiple images at once.
Once you have uploaded your images click "Save", and then exit out of the lightbox window. *DO NOT INSERT THESE IMAGES INTO YOUR POST AFTER UPLOADING* otherwise you will notice you have two types of galleries displaying in the Gallery Page you've just created. Remove the inserted gallery if you've done this.
Now that you've uploaded those images, just close out of that lightbox window. Remember, do not insert those images.
The way we have designed KingSize it will automatically take those images you've uploaded / attached and display them in the page you've created. If your seeing two types of images on your page, one looks like our demo while the other does not, this means you have inserted the gallery. Go to your post, in the "Content Editor" remove that inserted gallery / image and publish / update.
You can manage your images through the "Add Media" button specific to that page / post. Just return to the page you've created for your gallery and click the "Add Media" button like previously and this will again load the lightbox window. Inside here, it will by default load the view for ALL Media, you will want to use the drop-down selection box and select "Uploaded to this Post" and you'll then see the images specific to the page / post you're editing.
Once you see the images, you can drag and drop those images in the specific order you'd like them to appear in the frontend of your website. You can also click on each of the images to edit the details associated with them, such as titles, descriptions, alt tags and etc.
Just as you did with the posts inside your blog, you can create and assign a background image, slider or video on all pages created.
Additionally, checkout our Blog Tutorial: http://www.kingsizetheme.com/tutorials/how-to-create-galleries-with-page-templates/
It's just like the steps mentioned for creating Galleries with Pages but instead of using a Page Template, this time we're going to navigate to the post-type "Galleries" located in your WordPress Dashboard sidebar. Once opened, it will look identical to when creating Posts.
So using the "Galleries", we'll select "Add New". Inside here, we'll start by adding to our gallery a Title (ie., Gallery 1 - Birds).
Now using the same instructions as Page Galleries, you'll complete the following steps:
To add your images, you just need to locate the "Add Media" button at the top of your Content / Text Editor, and just beneath the "Title". When clicked this will open a new window in lightbox and this will allow you to attach / upload new media (images) files.
You can also select more than just one image at a time by dragging your mouse and selecting multiple images at once.
Now that you've uploaded those images, click the "X" or click outside the lightbox window to close it.
You can manage your images through the "Add Media" button specific to that gallery. Just return to the gallery you've created and click the "Add Media" button like previously explained and this will again load the lightbox window. Inside here, it will by default load the view for ALL Media, you will want to use the drop-down selection box and select "Uploaded to this Post" and you'll then see the images specific to the page / post you're editing.
Once you've finished editing your images, click the "X" or outside the lightbox window to close.
Now that you've created your Galleries, head to the main page of that post-type where you can view all the created Galleries. Each one will be titled accordingly, but more importantly, you will see a column labeled "ID" and here is mentioned the ID specific to those galleries you have created. It is this ID that you'll use to identify the galleries when using the shortcodes inside your pages/posts.
The advantage to this new Gallery post-type is you are no longer restricted to just pages.
Now head to the page/post of your choice, where you wish to display these images, and use this shortcode for displaying the gallery:
[img_gallery id="" type="" layout="" orderby="" order="" description="" placement=""]
You'll notice that there are various options available to this Gallery Shortcode that you can use to suit your specific needs, such as:
*If you've selected "custom_id" this will enable you to organize the images based on the specific ID you've assigned those images.
For additional details and visual explanations, you can visit or demonstration website and see above each of the Galleries the Shortcodes used and the options available to that shortcode. Also note, multiple gallery shortcodes can be used in any page/post as desired.
Additionally, checkout our Blog Tutorial: http://www.kingsizetheme.com/tutorials/how-to-create-galleries-with-shortcodes/
The purpose behind Portfolios is to add multiple projects with the use of additional details and essentially to help showcase your work.
Portfolios can serve many purposes, such as:
The possibilities are limited only to your imaginations.
Often we're asked, "What is the difference between Galleries and Portfolios" and we've created a specific post that explains that in detail.
Portfolios are quite simple to use and we'll explain how now.
The first thing you want to do when creating a Portfolio is to "Create Your Categories" for the use of the Portfolio Items you'll create.
This Portfolio Categories will help in categorizing your items, but more importantly, they're used to create your Portfolio Pages specifically.
In this explanation, we'll create a "Photos" and "Videos" portfolio.
So first, head to your WordPress Dashboard, locate the "Portfolio" sidebar item and when it expand to show more, click on "Categories".
Create your desired Portfolio categories, ie., "Photos" and "Videos".
Your choices for ordering are:
Alike to other pages / posts, you can also setup the Custom Background Image, Sliders, Videos and related options.
Now having created your Portfolio Page and Categories, we want to continue on by adding our newly created Portfolio Items / Posts.
Beneath the Content / Text Editor, we again will find our "write-panel" with options pertaining specifically to this Portfolio Item we'll be creating. By default, none of these items are required to be used, but in order to use the Portfolios to their full potential, a few of these options would likely be necessary for your usage.
Of course, with all pages / posts created, you've additional write-panel options that allow you to customize that specific pages / post being created. Such as backgrounds, sliders, videos, hide / show the navigation and disable the grid overlay (along with others).
When creating a Portfolio Item, you are either creating it for the purpose of "Videos" or "Photos". You can select one or the other for each Portfolio Item - or mix them up and have a few of each inside your portfolio page. However each Portfolio item is a single Portfolio post, so to add multiple images and videos to your Portfolio pages, you must create multiple Portfolio posts for each items shown.
Continuing where we left off in the write-panel options, next you will see "Image/Photo Portfolio Thumbnail Settings". It is here that you would assign the "Featured Image" to be used as the Thumbnail in your portfolio item. You can use the options to either open this in lightbox (default) or have lightbox disabled so when clicking on the image it opens the associated link to that item.
When you're wanting to add more images to your Portfolio item that you want to show up in lightbox, you simply go to the top of that portfolio post being created / edited and at the top locate "Add Media". You will want to upload the images to this specific post as attachments. Like in Galleries, you can drag and drop the order of the images you want displayed in the lightbox.
Once you've completed your additional images being uploaded, you can click outside the lightbox window to close the Media Upload, or hit the "X" to close it. At any time you want to edit these, you can return to the Portfolio item created and click "Add Media" again and select the option "Images Uploaded to this Post" and you'll be able to manage, edit and delete those associated images.
Using the write-panel section labeled "Video Portfolio - Thumbnail & Video Settings" you can upload a thumbnail for your Portfolio Item and also insert the URL for the video you want to use.
For the use of Vimeo and YouTube, simply copy and paste the URL into the appropriate field.
For Flash, HTML5 and other formats, use the "Embed" box to insert your embed codes - these will vary by the type of embed used. YouTube and Vimeo embed will also work in this field as well.
Now customize the additional write-panel settings to suit your specific needs and click "Publish". If having already created the Portfolio page that houses that Portfolio Category, you can load up that URL in your browser and should begin to see the portfolio items showing.
HELPFUL TIPS:
If you want to change the number of items shown inside your Portfolio pages you can do so by going to "Appearance > Theme Options > Gallery / Portfolio" and changing the default number of items shown to the new number of items you'd prefer shown on a per-page basis (using pagination).
If you're wanting to remove the descriptions from your Portfolio items, or instead allow for more description shown, you can also change the "Height" of the portfolio items by again returning to "Appearance > Theme Options > Gallery / Portfolio" and customizing the settings to suit your needs.
To create a Portfolio with a shortcode, you have to repeat all the same steps as you would creating your Portfolio items mentioned above when using Portfolio Page Templates. However, in this method we're going to instead of using Page Templates we're going to call those Portfolio items via Shortcode into any page/post that we want - very similar to the use of Gallery Shortcodes.
For this example, we're going to create a new page called "Portfolio" and simply call a specific category and customize it a little with the options available to Portfolio Shortcodes. So go to "Pages" in your WordPress Dashboard and click "Add New".
Give your page a title; in our scenario this will be Portfolio.
Using the shortcode button in the visual editor, we're going to select "Portfolio" from the list.
[portfolio cats="" per_page="10" orderby="date" order="desc" title="true" description="true" layout="2columns"
pagination="true" crop="center"]
The above shortcode will be what is inserted automatically. It's pre-completed and ready for use.
To find the Category ID for your Portfolio items, go to the "Portfolio > Portfolio Categories" and you'll be able to see the ID's beside each category. Assign the ID of your choice, or leave blank to show all Portfolio items.
The available options to this shortcode with explanations are as follows:
HELPFUL TIPS:
When using the "crop" feature in shortcodes, you can use all the known positionings available to the Timthumb script. These can be found here: http://www.binarymoon.co.uk/2010/08/timthumb-part-4-moving-crop-location/ - use the full names and not the short-form abbreviations.
A full list of the options available to crop positions are:
Additionally, you can set this globally through "Appearance > Theme Options > General Settings".
Creating a Contact Page is rather simple and like many of the features in KingSize WordPress, you've the option to use a "Shortcode" or the option to use a Page Template.
To use the Page Template, go to "Pages" and "Add New". We'll call this page "Contact Us". In this edit page you'll see "Page Attributes" and inside they're the option to select from available Page templates. You'll want to choose the page template titled as "Contact Page" and simply save it after.
Of course, you can customize the page you've created using the write-panel options available.
When using the Contact Page Template, you need to go to "Appearance > Theme Options > Contact Page" and include your email address to be used as well a success message to be shown afterward.
To make use of the custom sidebar (which is only available to the Contact Page Template) you will have to go to "Appearance > Widgets" and drag and drop the "Contact Widget" into the sidebar made specifically for the Contact page. Of course, with the release of version 4.1, you can create unlimited sidebars and assign any one of them to various pages/posts.
To use the contact shortcode, you can find using the visual editor the Shortcode button. By clicking it you will open the shortcode generator. Select the "Contact Form" shortcode and it will insert the default standard shortcode that you would customize to your needs.
The shortcode you will see is:
[contact email="user@email.com" message="Success message to show…" ][/contact]
The options available are simple:
This shortcode can be used anywhere you desire and as many times as you'd like. Have multiple people's emails associated with your business whom can be contacted privately from profile pages or etc. It makes great for contacting people regarding various matters and/or departments.
HELPFUL HINT:
If you're having troubles with emails not being delivered, double-check that you've used the correct email address. If correct, make sure that your hosting provider supports PHPMailer. If in some instances the emails are not being delivered still, then contact our support team for further help.
The KingSize WordPress template comes packed with a lot of shortcodes available for you use and in the latest version comes with even more. New shortcodes being introduced are the "Blog" and "Portfolio" shortcodes that will expand your ability to use the website a little more freely without any restrictions. Of course, as time progresses and the demands see it, we will add more shortcodes.
For the time being, to locate the shortcodes available at anytime, you must be in view of the "Visual Editor" and not the "Text Editor". The visual editor when showing all options (Kitchen Sink) will also have a button that looks like a unicorn. Clicking this will open a box in which you can select from any of the available shortcodes to be inserted into the editor as you're using it and then customize it.
You can find all examples of the shortcodes and their uses on the KingSize demonstration website. These are also included in the demo content (Express Install) if you've used that for your setup. Just refer to that page and you can copy and paste any of the shortcodes and see how they're being used.
For your reference: http://www.kingsizetheme.com/shortcodes/
We've also created a tutorial inside our demonstration blog that further explains the use of Shortcodes: http://www.kingsizetheme.com/tutorials/shortcodes/ it will be helpful to read this.
Included with your purchase of the KingSize WordPress template is a complimentary premium plugin called "Fullwidth Audio Player" for WordPress. This is a plugin available on CodeCanyon:

The author of the plugin is "Radykal".
It is IMPORTANT you understand that the author of this plugin is NOT RESPONSIBLE for providing you with plugin support. We have purchased this plugin using the Extended License - so buyer support will only be available through our KingSize WordPress support forums - not the author!
If you want customizations to this plugin you can contact us or if you'd like you can purchase a copy of the single license and contact the author regarding development services. However support will not be available through the author of the plugin unless you've purchased your own license for this.
So with that said, we will be providing a copy of the basic instructions / documentation for it's use:

Thanks to Jonathan Salontay (http://www.youtube.com/user/sundown1989), who created 2 super-b Video Tutorials:
First of all upload the "fullwidth-audio-player" located in the "Full Width Audio Player" folder. If you do not know how do that - just google it. There are a many tutorials that explain how you do that.
After that a new Menu will appear in your Main Navigation. There you create all tracks, playlists and configure all settings for the player.
CREATE SOME TRACKS
First of all lets create some tracks. You can upload own-hosted MP3 tracks or use tracks from soundcloud. Lets begin with own-hosted tracks. Click "Add New" under the Fullwidth Audio Player menu.
OWN MP3 TRACKS
First enter a title for your track. Then set the track URL in the Track URL field or use the WordPress' uploader to upload a MP3 file.
Before you click "Insert into Post", be sure that "File URL" is enabled. You see that when the correct path of the MP3 file is displayed in the Link URL field.
File URL enabled:
Now you can also write a description, set an order value for sorting the tracks in a playlist. You can upload a cover for the track via the "Featured Image" Link. When you are done, just click "Publish".
SOUNDCLOUD TRACKS
Good news
Note: Soundcloud is using SSL now (https URLs), you can load tracks from https URLs, you have to use http URLs, so just remove the 's' from the URL.
You can load single tracks, track sets, user tracks and user favorites from soundcloud. Just paste the URL in the Track URL field. The player will get the track details like title, referral link etc. from soundcloud. You can set also a title, description, image etc. but these information will be only used when you add a tracklist or single track anywhere in your post or page.
For example you would like to add your favorites from soundcloud, then paste this link in the track URL field:
http://soundcloud.com/username/favorites
USING PLAYLISTS
You can create your own playlists and set a default playlist for the player or add it anywhere in your post or page.
For creating own playlists, just click the "Playlists" menu and create a playlist, after that you can pass your tracks to this playlist via the meta box that appears when creating or editing a track.
Select a default playlist
Go to the Options page and select the Audio Player tab, in the first dropdown you can define a default playlist, that will be loaded into the player from beginning.
Adding a playlist or single track in your post or page
You can choice between 4 different layouts: Cover Grid, Cover List, Simple List or Hidden List. You set the layout in the attribute of the shortcode.
[fap_track id="ID" layout="list"] [fap_track id="ID" layout="grid"] [fap_track id="ID" layout="simple"]
[fap_track id="ID" layout="hidden"]
You can also automatically enqueue a playlist or track when the player is ready, just set the enqueue attribute to yes:
//enqueue a playlist [fap_playlist id="ID" layout="hidden" enqueue="yes"] //enqueue a track [fap_track id="ID"
layout="simple" enqueue="yes"]
Since V1.1.1 - Enqueue a track or a playlist with links/buttons
You can add an additional parameter to the shortcode to tell the player to play the tracks(s) directly after adding or just enqueue them. If you set button_enqueue to "yes", it will only enqueue the track(s) in the player, if you set it to "no", it will play the track(s).
//enqueue a playlist with a button [fap_playlist id="ID" layout="simple" enqueue="no" play_playlist_button="Enqueue Playlist"
button_enqueue="no"] //enqueue a track [fap_track id="ID" layout="simple" enqueue="no" button_enqueue="no"]
Add a single track
When you click the "All Tracks" menu, you find a column "Shortcode" in the table. Every track has it's own shortcode and this can be added to a post or page, just copy the shortcode and paste it anywhere in your post or page.
Add a playlist
When you write a post or page, you see a new meta box at the right.
Select a playlist and configure the settings by your wishes. When you are done, just click the "Add playlist" button. Be sure to be that the editor is in the Visual Mode, otherwise the shortcode will not be added.
When you enable the Auto Pop-Up option, users with a Pop-Up Blocker will be notified to allow your sites for Pop-Ups. The Pop-Up player is only available on desktop browsers, not on mobile browsers.
Here is a detailed overview of all shortcodes that can be used with this plugin.
Activate player for a page:
[fap]
Single track:
[fap_track id="ID OF THE TRACK" layout="list/grid/simple/hidden" enqueue="yes/no" button_enqueue="yes/no"]
Playlist:
[fap_playlist id="ID OF THE PLAYLIST" layout="list/grid/simple/hidden" enqueue="yes/no"
play_playlist_button="empty/text for the button" button_enqueue="yes/no"]
Changing the default playlist for a particular page:
[fap_default_playlist id="ID OF THE PLAYLIST"]
Pop-Up Button:
[fap_popup_button label="LABEL FOR THE BUTTON"]
Changing Icon Color Scheme
The plugin comes with 2 different color schemes. You find a black and white color scheme in the images/fwap folder. Just replace the images in this folder to have another color scheme.
Updating your template language is quite simple, just follow the mentioned steps below:
Updating Your Translation Files:
Often asked is "how do I make pretty links" which is also referred to as "Permalinks". To do this, it's important you start your site with permalink structure prior to making posts and pages. Otherwise, it's going to be a difficult task having to re-create those link permalink structures.
Log into your dashboard, go to "Settings", find "Permalinks" and edit the structure to look like:
/%category%/%postname%/
If this is not the structure you want, you can learn more about Permalinks visiting WordPress:
http://codex.wordpress.org/Using_Permalinks
King Size does support the use of Featured Images in your Blog postings. Referring to the demo, you can see in the blog archive there is a featured image being displayed. To do this you need to:
Here's the official documentation: http://codex.wordpress.org/Appearance_Menus_SubPanel
Kingsize makes available a write-panel option in both "pages" and "posts" that allows you the ability to override the default global background previously set via Theme Options. This means that on any individual page and/or post, you can have a unique background specific to its use.
To include a background, scroll down beneath the contents of your post and you'll see an area titled "Override the default Background" with the option to either "enter a URL" or to "Upload a background directly from your computer".
Once you've inserted your URL for the background image, or uploaded an image from your computer, complete the remainder of your entry and once ready, click "Publish / Update". At this point, the background once saved will automatically override the global background assigned earlier through the Theme Options panel.
For complete documentation, view the official guide provided on behalf of WordPress, by visiting: http://codex.wordpress.org/Using_Themes and follow the documentation here.
When inserting your gallery, there is an option that asks "Link Thumbnails To", you'll want to change this from "Attachment Page" to use "Image File" instead. This will allow for the lightbox effect to work. Otherwise, images will load in a new page.
When inserting single images, just insert the image into your post and make sure its linked to the image. This will automatically apply the lightbox effect to those images inserted into your post.
One of the more common issues being reported. This is due to a mistake you've made, not at fault of our template. You are trying to upload the ENTIRE zipped folder you downloaded from Theme Forest. This is NOT correct. You need to open that folder you've downloaded and inside you will see another folder titled "Template Files", it is this folder you will find INSIDE the actual template. Either upload as a zip and extract on your server, or extract on your desktop and upload as a whole to the /themes/ directory.
CSS is contained in style.css file (root folder of theme). Styles for Internet Explorer are contained in stylesIE.css (for IE8, IE7), stylesIE7.css (for IE7) (/css folder). There are also 3 additional CSS files - prettyPhoto.css (for prettyPhoto plugin), jquery.fancybox-1.3.1.css (for FancyBox plugin) and colorbox.css(for Colorbox plugin) - all situated in /css folder. CSS for Galleria is in /js/galleria folder (galleria.classic.css) and slideViewer styles plugins are situated in style.css in the Gallery styles section.
Sections are separated with the comments like:
/* ========= General Styles ========== */If you would like to edit a specific section of the site, simply find the appropriate label in the CSS file, and then scroll down until you find the appropriate style that needs to be edited.
Javascript files are situated in /js folder of the theme. They are enqueued in the theme in functions.php file.
